The Scuola Galileiana di Studi Superiori (Galilean School of Higher Education) is the University of Padua’s school of excellence. It combines traditional university education with a series of special in-house courses comprising seminars and lectures by renowned international visiting professors. Up to four highly talented international students are selected each year.

Scholarships awarded by other national or international organisations

  Scholarships awarded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation MAECI

Every year, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation awards scholarships for studying in Italy to both International students and Italian students who are permanent residents in countries other than Italy. 

Who can apply: International students and Italian students who are permanent residents in countries other than Italy.

Eligible courses:

  1. Master's degree programmes  (Laurea magistrale)
  2. PhD courses
  3. Research under academic supervision (Progetti in co-tutela)

Age requirements:

  1. Master's degree courses: not over 28 years old by the deadline of this call, with the sole exception of renewals.
  2. PhD Programmes: not over 30 years old by the deadline of this call, with the sole exception of renewals.
  3. Research Projects under academic supervision: applicants not over 40 years old by the deadline of this call.

Language requirements:

  • Italian-taught coursesB2 level (CEFR).
  • English-taught courses: no Italian-language requirement; English-language: B2 level (CEFR).

How to apply: applications online through the Ministry’s website: https://studyinitaly.esteri.it/en

Amount and duration of scholarship: monthly allowance of 900 euros (net) and health insurance. The duration of the scholarship can vary from 6 to 9 months.

Payment arrangements and maintenance requirements: the scholarships will be paid quarterly. The last instalment will be paid only upon verification of a satisfactory academic progress.

The scholarship is compatible with other European programs (such as Erasmus+) and other scholarships offered by international institutions but it will not be paid for the periods spent outside Italy.

  Invest Your Talent - a.y. 2022/23

Invest Your Talent in Italy supports talented international students wishing to enrol in English-taught Master's degree programmes in the fields of Engineering and Information Technologies, Management and Economics at top-ranked Italian universities, including the University of Padua. The programme offers full scholarship packages including subsistence allowance, fee-waiver and dedicated student support services. A short internship at leading Italian companies is also foreseen as part of the programme. It is supported by the Italian Government and the Italian Trade Agency.

In addition to the scholarships provided by the IYT project, the University of Padua will award 2 additional scholarships to students selected by the Invest Your Talent Technical Committee who have chosen the University of Padua as their destination.

Who can apply: the programme is open to talented students who completed at least a Bachelor's degree and come from one of the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Popular Republic of China, South Corea, Turkey, Tunisia and Vietnam.

Available degree courses: student applying for “Invest your Talent in Italy” can choose among the following Master's degree programmes completely taught in English offered by the University of Padua:

Economics and Management

When to apply: from January 14, 2022 to February 15, 2022.

Amount and duration of scholarship: The scholarship consists of a monthly amount of 900 euros (net) for the duration of 9 months and it could be renewed for the second year of the Master's Degree, upon the achievement of at least 30 ECTS credits. To be granted the scholarship, students are also required to complete a 3-months compulsory internship in an Italian enterprise.

Opportunities for refugees

  University Corridors for Refugees - 4.0 (Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon 2022/2024)

In cooperation with UNHCR, the University of Padua offers 4 scholarships for the A.Y. 2022/23 to refugee students.

Amount: the scholarship include full tuition fee-waivers, accommodation, meals at university canteens and many free services offered by local partners.

Duration: 2 years

Who can apply: students who meet the following requirements:

  1. are residing in Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon and have been recognized the refugee status in collaboration with UNHCR
  2. hold a qualification valid for admission to the chosen second-cycle degree programme
  3. the qualification must be awarded by a higher education institution duly accredited and must grant access to a second-cycle degree programme in the relevant foreign system
  4. have obtained their qualification not before 2017 and no later than March 31, 2022
  5. Meet the specific admission requirements of the second-cycle degree programme of interest, or will meet such requirements by the deadline of enrolment

Please note that the scholarship cannot be granted to students who have obtained other scholarships funded by Italian public institutions (e.g.: Regional Scholarship).

The application fee is exceptionally waived exclusively for candidates who meet the entry requirements listed above.

  Call for applications 100 scholarships for students with international protection – CRUI and the Italian Ministry of Interior

The Italian Ministry of Interior, together with the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI) and ANDISU (Italian Association of Right to Education Organizations), offers 100 scholarships for the A.Y. 2022/23 to refugee students or with international protection obtained by August 26th, 2022 in Italy. The deadline to submit the application is August 31th, 2022.

  Unipd 4 Afghanistan: scholarships to support Afghan students

The University of Padua offers 50 scholarships to support Afghan students who find themselves or may possibly find themselves in a dangerous situation following the worsening of the political situation in Afghanistan.

  Unipd 4 Ukraine: scholarships to support students living in Ukraine entering the university

Following the events related to the ongoing war in Ukraine, the University of Padua has activated two scholarships programmes with the purpose of supporting students living in Ukraine entering the university:

  • 50 scholarships designed to provide an immediate response to those who have just fled Ukraine and thus open to students enrolling in single course units in the academic year 2021/22;
  • 75 scholarships aimed at students enrolling in a full degree programme in the academic year 2022/23 with the aim of a long-lasting integration into the university system.
