The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation offers scholarships for international and Italian students who permanently reside abroad (IRE).

The aim of these scholarships is to encourage international cultural cooperation, spread knowledge of the Italian language, culture and science, and promote the growth of the Italian economic and technological system worldwide. They are offered to undertake study, training and/or research programmes at Italian state institutions or legally recognised institutions.

It is possible to apply for one of the following types of courses offered by the University of Padua:

Age requirements:

  • For second-cycle degree programmes: not over 28 years of age;
  • For PhD courses: not over 30 years of age;
  • For research projects: not over 40 years of age.

Language requirements:

Courses taught in Italian: B2 level of the (CEFR).
Courses taught in English: no requirement for Italian language proficiency; English language at B2 level (CEFR)

Eligible countries: please consult the list of countries eligible for the scholarship in the annexes to the call.

The application must be completed online through the Ministry website: https://studyinitaly.esteri.it/.

It is also necessary to apply for enrolment in the chosen degree programme at the University of Padua by following the usual application procedures and deadlines. For detailed information: https://www.unipd.it/studiare-inglese-come-fare-domanda

The scholarship consists of a monthly amount of 900 euros. The duration of the scholarship may vary from 6 to 9 months.

The call also sets out the continuation requirements for subsequent years and incompatibilities.
