Public Health
Modern medicine was not born in a time, but in a place: Padova. In the classrooms of the university, within the walls of the anatomical theater, in the midst of the medicinal plants of the Botanical Garden and, of course, in its hospitals.
Today, in the research laboratories in our departments we work to improve the health and well-being of society. Our health research operates both in the direction of prevention and in that of treatment, ranging between various areas of study, such as research on cancer, degenerative diseases and rare diseases.
Every day we provide diagnosis and treatment in the Hospital - University of Padova, in the Veterinary Hospital and in the Veneto Oncology Institute. Medical professors, medical residents, students of the health professions and PhD will be by your side if you need them.
The new building is spread over eight floors for a total of about 20,000 square meters, in the area where the Pneumology Department was once located. The facility has 155 beds, six operating theatres and 26 specialist paediatric operating units. Each room is also equipped with spaces dedicated to caregivers, to encourage parents to stay next to girls and boys.
One Health doesn't change what we do, but it does change the way we do it, encouraging us to collaborate as a team. The boundaries between the various fields of science are crossed, experts from different disciplinary fields work together. Let's generate concrete actions to support health together.
The project for the new Polo della Salute in Padova Est
The Polo di Padova Est will be a sustainable building for the choice of materials and technologies, and with high energy performance. As many as 45 operating rooms, equipped with high technology, 963 beds, of which 90 are intensive care. It will have a dedicated area of about 40 hectares in the eastern quadrant of Padova and will cover an area of about 212,000 square meters. It will have a multifunctional plate, buildings for hospitalizations, buildings for outpatient activities, a research tower and a service center.
