University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Ovud

The University Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the University of Padua is located on the Agripolis campus, in Legnaro, about ten kilometers from the center of Padua.

OVUD is a point of reference for the treatment of diseases in companion animals and horses and provides emergency care, hospitalization, and specialist consultation services in the various disciplines of veterinary medicine, intensive care and analysis laboratory services.

Among the various services offered by the departments connected to the service are also autopsy examinations with dedicated facilities, such as the necropsy room, cytology, and histopathology.

The facility has been approved by the European Association of Establishments of Veterinary Education (EAEVE).

On the research front, the staff of the Veterinary Hospital, which also includes non-university veterinarians, is active in several sectors: from experimental radiology on skeletal adaptations in both terrestrial and marine mammals to the recovery and study, in cooperation with the forestry corps and the harbor master's offices, of injured or stranded wild animals.
