Publish
The Regulations for publications govern the printing, sale and distribution of books, journals, teaching handouts, research, original works and any other writing for whose publication, reproduction or commercialisation funds from the budget of the University of Padua or from the budgets of the University of Padua’s facilities are used.
The authors of these publications may be lecturers and employees of the University of Padua, graduates holding scholarships or grants of any kind at the University of Padua, graduates enrolled on a PhD course for which the University of Padua is the administrative headquarters or a consortium partner, and collaborators in research coordinated by a lecturer of the University.
At least two copies of each publication must be kept by the University facilities that financed them with funds entered in their own budget.
Among the various types of publishing contracts provided for, the regulations require that the use of funds from Contributions for the improvement of teaching and student services is permitted only for the publication of texts with mainly teaching purposes and with the aim of keeping the purchase price down. The author or authors must assign the proceeds of their rights to the University of Padua, which thus becomes the sole entity entitled to exploit them.
The University of Padua also carries out its own publishing activity through "Padova University Press", which pursues the objectives of sharing and disseminating scientific knowledge, with particular attention to the results of research carried out within the University of Padua.
The publishing activity of Padova University Press concerns the production of monographs, conference proceedings, journals, databases and multimedia products. Publication requests must come from the author (for monographs and other works), the editor (for conference proceedings) or the journal editor (for periodicals). Applicants send their requests to the Technical Secretariat using the relevant forms available on the website, in which they describe the characteristics of the work for which they are requesting publication.
The University of Padua also promotes open access to scientific literature through its adherence to the Open Access and Open Science movement.
