Open Science
We adopt the principles of "Open Science" and promote the open dissemination of our research results, to ensure their widest possible dissemination and reuse.
To do this, Unipd relies on a Commission for Open Science.
Open Science increases the effectiveness of collaboration and the reproducibility of research results.
It increases the collaborative potential, with the possibility of accessing and reusing data for new analyses, including interdisciplinary ones, for scientific course unit and the usability of knowledge, in a transparent way, for the benefit of society.

We were among the first universities to sign the "Messina Declaration", the document of adhesion of Italian universities to the "Berlin Declaration", i.e. the formal act of launching the Open Access movement.

Awareness and Use of Open Research Practices: An International Survey of Researchers Across Disciplines is the preprint of a new international study that also saw the collaboration of scholars from the University of Padova. The survey represents one of the largest international surveys dedicated to the dissemination of Open Research practices, i.e. the set of practices that promote more transparent, accessible, reproducible and collaborative research.
Our Report on Open Science 2023/24
In February 2026, we published the Open Science Report 2023-2024, a document that organically reflects our commitment to the promotion and dissemination of Open Science practices: from Open Access to the sharing and enhancement of research data, from open educational resources to the development of open infrastructures.
Alongside the snapshot of the results achieved, the document outlines future strategies aimed at consolidating and strengthening an increasingly transparent, sustainable and reuse-oriented research ecosystem.
