Elena Nardelli obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Trieste in 2018 with a dissertation on the relationships between philosophy and translation in contemporary thought, especially in the work of Martin Heidegger and Jacques Derrida. She previously studied philosophy in Bologna, Berlin, Roma, Jena (double degree), and Paris. She is a FCT junior researcher at the University of Lisbon, a history and philosophy teacher, and a translator from German and French. Her research focuses on the philosophy of translation, German classical philosophy, and contemporary philosophy, especially aesthetics and ontology. Elena Nardelli will conduct her MSCA project PHILTRANS at the Department of Philosophy, Sociology, Education and Applied Psychology under the supervision of Professor Luca Illetterati, in collaboration with the Kyoto University (Professor Naoko Saito). PHILTRANS puts translation at the centre of philosophical inquiry. The project has both a theoretical and an educational dimension: it will study the transformative dimension of translation and will test it in pedagogical activities for high schools and universities.
