Xingmin Liu was born in Shandong province in China. He started to work with ceramic based materials in 2011 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Xiaowei Yin when he was working towards his master degree. In 2014, he went to TU Darmstadt and started to work as a PhD student. During his PhD, he had been working with single-source-precursors derived Si-based ceramic nanocomposites, in particular carbon nanomaterials (carbon nanotubes, reduced graphene oxides and their hybrids) modified SiCN based materials, as advanced electromagnetic materials. Xingmin is of great honor to come to the Department of Industrial Engineering at University of Padova, where he will implement his MSCA-IF project with the supervision of Prof. Paolo Colombo. In his project, he will develop advanced 3 dimension (3D) carbon nanofibers/transition metal carbides modified SiCN (CNFs/TMCs-SiCN) ceramic nanocomposite electromagnetic metamaterials possessing outstanding EM absorption performance as the next generation high-temperature EM absorption materials via innovatively combining single-source-precursor derived ceramic and Additive Manufacturing techniques.
