Honorary Degrees
Among the honorary academic titles that the University of Padova confers, the honorary degree is awarded to people who have contributed significantly in the field of research, art or entrepreneurship. The degree is usually related to the discipline most relevant to the area in which the person has worked.
An honorary degree may be awarded to personalities whose scientific, cultural or social merits, in sectors typologically proper to the proposing department, are of undoubted importance and are recognized in the community. In particular, if the award concerns a figure operating in the field of scientific research, he must have obtained results with his study or research activity whose value is recognized and appreciated at national or international level; for the other figures, they must be personalities who have achieved results with their activity, whose cultural, artistic, economic-social or technical-scientific value is of an exceptionally high profile, in particular with regard to innovation.
