Services

The university career may be subject to arrests of various kinds, temporary or permanent, at the request of a party or ex officio, in accordance with the provisions of the Student Careers Regulations.

Students who wish to temporarily interrupt their studies may request suspension (Art. 17); to interrupt definitively, he can instead submit a request for waiver (Art. 12).

If the student simply does not renew the enrolment, the interruption is determined (Art.18), which allows the resumption of studies if the forfeiture has not occurred.

It is advisable to consult the economic consequences in the event of a change of course / transfer / withdrawal

Forfeiture operates ex officio, upon the occurrence of the conditions provided, resulting in a definitive termination of the course of study (Art. 11).

The suspension can be requested for the individual academic year only if the enrolment fee relating to it (the September instalment) has not been paid, so it is never possible to suspend studies in the first year of enrolment. It can be requested for a maximum of 3 academic years, even if not consecutive.

When to apply

To suspend studies for the 2026/2027 academic year, it is necessary to submit an application from 15 July 2026 to 30 September 2026
Any applications after the indicated deadline may be accepted provided that the enrolment installment (September) has not been paid.

How to apply

To submit a request for suspension, it is necessary to be up to date with the payments relating to previous years.
The request for suspension must be submitted by opening a ticket through the dedicated platform: it is necessary to log in with your e-mail credentials and selecting Teaching Area and Student Services - CAREER INTERRUPTION AND RESUMPTION OF STUDIES > SUSPENSION OF STUDIES and the School to which you belong.

The ticket must be attached:

  • the appropriate form duly completed and signed and saved in PDF/A format (using the PDF print function)
  • the stamp duty payment receipt from the PagoPA portal: make a spontaneous payment by selecting "DIDA03- Stamp duty - Suspension" (amount: €16) as the payment reason and download the payment receipt from the same portal (payment instructions)

Students with degree course regulations prior to Ministerial Decree 509/99 are not required to submit an application, except in the case of enrolment in a Master's degree.

In the case of enrolment in a Master's course , it is possible to submit a request for suspension even after payment of the first installment. In this case, the fees paid can be used for the purpose of enrolment in the Master. Upon resumption of studies, the student will not be required to pay the suspension fee.

Upon resumption of studies , students are required to pay a suspension fee, for each year suspended, in the amount set annually by the Board of Directors.

If the course is deactivated when you resume your studies, you can complete your studies in another Degree Programme that is still active, upon submission of a specific application for a change of programme.

Students who wish to resume their studies must open a ticket through the dedicated platform: they must log in with their e-mail credentials and select Teaching Area and Student Services – CAREER INTERRUPTION AND RESUMPTION OF STUDIES > Resumption of studies and the school to which they belong.

Withdrawal from studies can be submitted at any time, is irrevocable, unconditional and definitively terminates the university career.

The waiver must be submitted through Uniweb, according to the procedures provided for in the specific guide.

Pay special attention to the economic consequences.

The application must be completed through the simultaneous payment of the €16 stamp duty associated with it, in the "Fees" section of Uniweb.

Failing this, the applications are automatically refused.

Please note: the correctly submitted application is processed within two working days of payment of the relevant stamp duty. If after this deadline the "student status" in Uniweb is still active, it is necessary to report it to: carriere.studenti@unipd.it

With the resignation, relations with the University of Padua cease. After the withdrawal, it is no longer possible to use the teaching and administrative services with the exception of the issue of certificates relating to the studies completed. You are not entitled to a refund of taxes and contributions, but you are not required to pay what has not yet been paid.

It does not preclude the possibility of re-enrolment. Exams passed before withdrawal remain recorded, may be certified and may be subject to recognition.

The renunciation involves the revocation of the residence permit for study reasons (MIUR circular prot. 1872 of 23/12/2009).

The certificate of renunciation will be contained in the self-certification of enrolment available in your personal area of the Uniweb portal. Alternatively, you can request an enrolment certificate according to the procedures provided on the Certificates page.

The forfeiture is regulated by art. 11 of the Student  Careers Regulations and Law no. 15 of 21/02/2025 which extends the forfeiture to ten years , except for qualifying degrees for which eight years are counted.

Every year the list of students who incur the forfeiture is published, no communication is sent.

You automatically lose your status as a student if you do not take exams for eight consecutive years for qualifying degrees and for ten years for other degrees. This calculation applies both to degrees of the prior degree course regulations prior to Ministerial Decree 509 of 1999, and to degrees of the current degree course regulations. The date of forfeiture is calculated based on the date of the last exam taken.

The calculation of the forfeiture does not include the years of suspension of studies, while the years of interruption of studies are included.

The deadlines for forfeiture are interrupted by the submission of an application for a change of Degree Programme; in this case, the date of enrolment in the new Degree Programme will be considered as the reference date for calculating the forfeiture.

Those who, having completed all the exams required by their study plan, only have to discuss the final degree exam, do not incur forfeiture.

To verify the forfeiture, you can contact the back office responsible for the school by opening a ticket through the dedicated platform: you must log in with your e-mail credentials and select Teaching Area and Student Services > CAREER INTERRUPTION AND RESUMPTION OF STUDIES > Forfeiture and the School to which you belong.

Please note: it is necessary to indicate a personal email address in the ticket if the University email address @studenti.unipd.it is no longer active.
