National Center for Gene Therapy and Drugs based on RNA Technology

The Foundation named the National Research Center for the "Development of Gene Therapy and RNA-based Drugs" conducts research in areas of strategic importance for the country, aimed at producing therapies or designing procedures for human health. It integrates the development of therapies with their targeted delivery (precision delivery). Its objectives include the creation and renewal of research infrastructures and laboratories, the implementation and development of research programs and activities to promote the birth and growth of high-tech entrepreneurial initiatives (innovative start-ups and research spin-offs), and the enhancement of research results in the specified fields.

The Foundation, for which the University of Padua is the proposing and leading entity, involves 49 entities, including universities, public research institutions, private entities, and companies. It focuses its activities on high-innovation areas such as gene therapy for cancer treatment, hereditary diseases, and RNA-based technologies, integrating advanced biocomputing and smart nanomaterials expertise. In its areas of expertise, the Center has the ambition and capacity to become a center of excellence and a reference point for Europe, with the aim of making Italy competitive in the development of cutting-edge drugs.
