Characteristics and objectives
The course provides a solid formation in the methodologies and technologies of information and industrial engineering applied to medical and biological problems, aiming to develop the ability of students to identify, formalize, analyze and solve, if necessary in an innovative way, complex problems typical of biomedical engineering. On these basis, the aim is to prepare figures with a solid knowledge on the multidisciplinary fields of the bioengineer profession, able to face novel challenges of interest for biomedical research and technological innovation.

Occupational opportunities
The graduated in Bioengineering can be employed in:
- Biomedical, biotech and pharmaceutical industries that manufacture and supply systems, equipment's and materials for diagnosis, care and rehabilitation; typical duties are the design of biomedical equipment's and devices, the development of biomaterials, engineered tissues and drugs, the collaboration in multidisciplinary research groups aiming to develop innovative procedures needed to solve clinical problems.
- Public and private health care systems, medical instrumentation, telemedicine and e-health services, specialized laboratories, private practice; the bioengineer provides an engineering viewpoint to the optimization of healthcare delivery, in such areas as technology assessment, quality improvement, organization of health services.
- General manufacturing industries as regards product/process ergonomics and, in more general terms, the impact of technologies on humans.
Finally, the Master's degree In Bioengineering is the title required to enter national as well as international PhD programs.
