An inter-university course where students attend their second year at Stendhal University in Grenoble, France. The course curriculum is held in French and Italian, as students obtain a double degree issued by both universities. You will learn in-depth knowledge of European literary traditions, in particular French and Italian linguistic and literary spaces. Students will cover the main authorial figures through the analysis of their works and the historical and cultural context in which they operated. Students will use the main methods of describing literary texts on their own and will specialize in their training between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance or Modernity. Students will be able to work in public and private bodies in the areas of culture, publishing, cultural information, advertising, entertainment, and teach at secondary schools.

CHARACTERISTICS AND OBJECTIVES
The international master's program 'Modern Philology - French and Italian Studies' is a joint program between the University of Padua and the Université Grenoble Alpes. Students will spend one year studying at each university and will receive a double degree: a Master's degree in 'Modern Philology - French and Italian Studies' from the University of Padua and a Master's degree in 'Langues, Littératures et Civilisations Étrangères et Régionales (LLCER), - Parcours Études italiennes - Études françaises' from the Université Grenoble Alpes.

The program provides students with in-depth knowledge of European literary and cultural traditions, with a particular focus on the French and Italian language and cultural spheres. Students will have direct contact with major authors and works, and will pay particular attention to their historical context. Graduates of the program will acquire a solid knowledge and skills in the fields of history, literature, language, and culture, covering a chronological period from the Middle Ages to the present day.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates of the program will be qualified to work in a variety of public and private sector organizations in Italy and France, in the following sectors:
translation, cultural mediation, tourism, advertising and entertainment, book and publishing professions, professions related to the French-speaking world, Teaching in schools, after obtaining teaching qualifications and passing the required exams.
The program also provides students with the opportunity to pursue a career in research, following a doctoral thesis.

Double degree opportunities

Students enrolled in this Master's degree programme are offered the opportunity to participate in a double degree programme in French Studies - Italian Studies with the Université Grenoble Alpes (France) in order to obtain, over the course of two years, a double degree: the Master's Degree in Modern Philology - French and Italian Studies (UNIPD) and the Master's Degree in Langues, littératures et civilisation étrangères et régionales (Université Grenoble Alpes).
