A course held entirely in English that offers students the knowledge and skills necessary for conducting research in the field of cognitive neuroscience through electrophysiological techniques, neuroimaging, and non-invasive brain stimulation. Students will be trained on the neural bases of cognition and behaviour as it is useful for evaluating and planning interventions for the prevention and rehabilitation of cortical functions in neurological and psychiatric patients. Students will be able to evaluate cognitive disturbances and behavioural alterations and to prepare interventions for the prevention and rehabilitation of higher cortical functions. The international aspect of the course allows student to pursue future training abroad and to deal with the planning and implementation of neuropsychological assessments and analysis of brain activities.

Characteristics and objectives
Pursuant to Law no. 163 of November 8, 2021 and subsequent implementation decrees, the holders of a Master's degree in Cognitive Neuroscience and Clinical Neuropsychology are qualified to work as professional psychologists in Italy. This Master's degree course trains professionals in the field of neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience. They will be able to assess the cognitive and behavioural changes in neurological and psychiatric patients resulting from pathological events derived from various causes, either congenital or acquired; they will be able to set up preventive interventions, and rehabilitation of higher cortical functions. Students will gain knowledge regarding the main theoretical models of cognitive processes and their neural basis, in addition to knowledge of the main cognitive functions disorders resulting from congenital, developmental, degenerative or acquired diseases. Additionally, particular attention will be provided to the application of cognitive models for psychiatric and neurological patients. Furthermore, this degree course is characterized by a strong international appeal and it is proposed as a pole of attraction for foreign and Italian students who want to use their professional resources to achieve success at an international level. It allows students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for both basic and applied research in the fields of cognitive neuroscience, with particular reference to training in the neuropsychological, neuroimaging and brain stimulation fields, as well as in the diagnosis of cognitive disorders. In fact, the latest scientific developments in the field of neuroimaging and brain stimulation have made clear the need to understand the neural basis of cognition and behaviour, as well as to plan, implement and evaluate rehabilitation protocols.

Occupational opportunities
The degree course allows the access to public health and private entities, for professional consulting services, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of neuropsychological and cognitive disorders. The degree allows employment opportunities at the international level in designing cognitive tests and evaluating neuropsychological disorders, involving the use of neuroimaging, electrophysiology and brain stimulation.
