At the heart of this course is the study of social innovation, not only in its theoretical and practical aspects related to social policies and the programming and management of services, but also in its training of key emerging issues and problems such as social impact assessment, restorative justice, personalization, and enablement through social services. The course emphasizes an international approach that will prepare students for the profession of specialized social worker, after passing the State Exam, but which will also allow them to fulfil the tasks needed at managerial levels and through the evaluation of social policies and services needed to operate various public and private organizations.

Characteristics and objectives
The Master's Degree Program prepares students to become specialized social workers, more particularly training students to pursue peak positions in social service.
Social innovation is the key aspect of the teaching program.
The teaching program provides an advanced knowledge in some key areas for social service (such as analysis of socio-cultural change, social policies, and social planning) as well as the training of practice and professional skills on emerging social issues.
For example, strong emphasis is placed on issues as empirical research in social work, restorative justice, personalization and capability within social services reflecting on innovative models for social intervention.
Courses adopt an interdisciplinary perspective and all the teaching activities have a strong focus on the most recent theoretical and empirical evidence in the field of social service in Italian and European contexts, including a perspective on social innovation applied in the fields of social research and social work.

Occupational opportunities

The primary goal is to become a qualified social worker – after passing the required State examination.
The Program also offers valid training for other professional figures in the field of planning, managing and evaluating social policy and social services at various territorial levels – e.g. on the Regional and local-municipal level – and in multiple organizational settings, in the public, private, and non profit sector.
