Characteristics and objectives
The second cycle degree course in Social, Work and Communication Psychology takes into consideration the person, singularly and in a group, in professional and social contexts ? from a cognitive, emotional, and behavioral point of view ? in order to make diagnoses, interventions of individual and collective development, evaluations and selections, and organizational analyses.
The educational objectives include: knowledge of theoretical models regarding individual and collective behavior and their application in the fields of work and in an enlarged community; mastery of methods and instruments useful for evaluation, training, guidance, selection, assessment, and organizational analysis; acquisition of specific knowledge regarding intragroup and intergroup problems, within organizations and communities, cultural psychology, and the psychosocial processes related to migration; ability to plan informative, advertising, and marketing campaigns, and to assess their effectiveness through researches; knowledge of theoretical models and empirical researches in the field of psychology of communication; ability to plan and implement prevention and intervention programs; specialized knowledge regarding research methods and specific skills on methods and tools for the measurement of psychological and psychosocial phenomena.
The professional skills of the psychologist trained in this second cycle degree course are oriented towards the person in difficulties, for example for work-related stress, burnout, mobbing, career planning difficulties or a lack of adjustment to the social or cultural group the person belongs to.
Graduates in this second cycle degree course can also work in enlarged communities in order to promote balanced relationships among people coming from different cultures; in this field, graduates mostly use tools of social psychology and of the psychology of communication, even building and implementing specific evaluation, prevention, communication, and intervention programs.

Occupational opportunities
The second cycle degree course trains specialized figures in psychological, social, and psychotherapeutic sciences (graduates will have the possibility to become psychotherapists after further studies in Specialization Schools), and occupational and organizational psychologists.
The areas of activity are related to social and organizational development: realization of preventive actions, interventions, and therapy in case of individual and social discomfort; evaluation of performances and potential, with reference to selection, guidance, role, and professional change; diagnosis of organizational functioning; analysis and implementation of communication and marketing processes in the fields of business and market; planning and evaluation of interventions to encourage the integration among individuals belonging to different groups, ethnicity, and cultures.
