Every day many medical decisions are made based on the results from the laboratories of immunohematology, microbiology, pathological anatomy, medicine, molecular biology, and medical genetics. The biomedical laboratory technician is the person in charge of the control of the machinery and the correct execution of the analyzes. With this course, you will learn the fundamental concepts of physics, statistics, computer science, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, and biochemistry, as well as the skills needed for the execution and management of the analysis techniques of biological materials. You will address issues related to management regulations, certifications, and the accreditation of specific machinery and biomedical laboratories. The course will allow you to enter into the workforce and carry out your professional path in both public and private structures.

Characteristics and objectives
During the three-year course, male and female students learn the scientific disciplines useful for carrying out analysis techniques and managing biological materials in laboratory diagnostics.
They also learn the regulations for the management, certification and accreditation of a biomedical laboratory and the ethical and deontological issues associated with the profession. Alongside the study of the fundamentals of physics, statistics, information technology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry and biochemistry, the deepening of analytical and diagnostic techniques in the clinical laboratories of Laboratory Medicine, Immunohaematology and Transfusion Center, Microbiology and Virology, Histopathological and Cytopathological Anatomy, Molecular biology and medical genetics.
Occupational opportunities
Those who obtain a degree in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques carry out professional activities, even independently, in public and private laboratories of chemical-clinical and clinical-diagnostic analyzes organized both departmentally and by discipline (clinical biochemistry, microbiology and virology, anatomy pathology, transfusion center and molecular biology). It also operates in the analysis laboratories of the prevention and protection services of the Regional Agencies for the Protection of the Environment (ARPA), and of the regional Zooprophylactic Experimental Institutes and of the pharmaceutical industries. It organizes and participates in study and scientific research, training and professional development activities and carries out teaching activities in university study courses and in other training realities. He carries out his professional activity as an employee or as a freelancer in private companies.
From Bachelor's degree to Master's degree
The Course gives access to the Master's Degree Course in Diagnostic Technical Health Professions Sciences and to the Master's Degree Course in Biomedical Technologies and Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies according to the methods that will be indicated in the specific admission notices.
