The Course, which will be delivered entirely in English and with a blended modality, provides a cross-curricular, i.e., broad-based, education in the main areas of Information Engineering, or IE, such as automation, electronics, computer science and telecommunications and a solid grounding in the physical-mathematical subjects. Distinguished by a marked multidisciplinary, the course is also characterized by a strong methodological approach which means that students will learn systematic and structured methods to analyze problems in the different IE areas. By the end of the course, the graduate will have acquired analytical, project and problem solving skills. The typical occupational opportunities of the Bachelor's degree in Information Engineering consist of all work areas related to the main IE fields. Thus, the graduate can find employment in private companies and in public administration including in the international context.

The course of study in Information Engineering, which will be delivered entirely in English, provides a cross-curricular, i.e., broad-based, education in the main areas of Information Engineering, or IE, such as automation, electronics, computer science and telecommunications. The course also provides a solid grounding in the physical-mathematical subjects that constitute the fundamentals of IE. In contrast to the majority of bachelor's degree programs in IE, which offer in-depth courses focused on only one of the above-mentioned disciplines, this Course is distinguished by a marked multidisciplinary character in the different areas of IE. The Course is also characterized by a strong methodological approach, which means that students will learn systematic and structured methods to analyze problems in the different IE areas.

By the end of the course, the graduate will have acquired analytical and project skills, and all the knowledge necessary to understand and employ the techniques and tools used in the most innovative areas of IE. The graduate will also have acquired critical analysis and problem solving skills, and will be able to deal with problems in the area of IE by developing models and proposing appropriate solutions.

Main occupational and professional opportunities
The typical occupational opportunities of the Bachelor's degree in Information Engineering consist of all work areas related to the main IE fields, in accordance with the broad spectrum of skills acquired through a cross- and multidisciplinary preparation. Thus, the graduate can find employment in private companies operating in the fields of electronics, telecommunications, information technology, measurement instrumentation, automotive industry and industrial automation. These companies are typically characterized by strong flexibility and dynamism to adapt to the demands of increasingly global and changing markets. With the Information Engineering graduate, these companies find answers to the demand for young personnel with the flexibility and broad skills that make them easily employable. Likewise, the ubiquity of IE applications is such that graduates will also be able to find employment in public administration. The strong international connotation of the degree will open up a wider market for graduates both nationally and internationally. Finally, by obtaining a professional habilitation and registering in Section B of the Register of Engineers in the field of Information, graduates will also be able to engage in freelance work, providing their skills to various entities.

Possible continuation of the course of study
Information Engineering, a Bachelor that programmatically offers a methodological, generalist/multidisciplinary and international approach, is also the most appropriate solution to the needs of those who want to acquire a very broad spectrum of foundational knowledge in the field of IE and postpone an eventual specialization to a Master Degrees. This will be possible because the Bachelor will be structured to provide not only a broad-spectrum but also a high-level preparation, which will in particular allow access to all the master's degree in the information area of DEI: Computer Engineering, Control System Engineering, Electronic Engineering and ICT for Internet and Multimedia, and Bioengineering. Similarly, Information Engineering graduates will be able to successfully tackle a Master in other universities, national or international. Finally, as demonstrated by the ten-year experience of the Bachelor taught in Italian, graduates with a broad spectrum and a solid methodological foundation are able to develop, after a master's degree, professional figures with specific peculiarities: broad vision, flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing technology, which can make them more capable of advancing in the world of work and also tackle PhD programmes.

Career opportunities

This Bachelor’s degree grants access to all Master’s degree programmes in the area of ICT, in Italy and abroad. Four Master’s degrees (Computer Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, ICT for Internet and Multimedia) are also offered, in English, by the same Department. As well, graduates can find professional employment in all areas of ICT, in enterprises or in the public sector.
