If you are interested in working in a multidisciplinary context which deals with improving workers’ safety within the workplace and the environment around us, this course will allow you to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to identify the causes of occupational diseases. and the methods to prevent them; it will also allow you to evaluate the hygiene and quality of food of animal and non-animal origin, beverages and cosmetic products; you will learn to carry out prevention and surveillance activities in the workplace, acting within the risk assessment processes. You may enter job market directly by performing your activity either as a freelancer or as an employee (as manager / security officer in a private facility or in the prevention, control and surveillance services in a public facility).

Characteristics and objectives
By attending the course, the student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out prevention and control activities in areas such as hygiene and safety in the workplace, plant safety, hygiene and public health (human, veterinary and environmental), as well as hygiene and quality of food of animal and plant origin, beverages, and cosmetic products, assessing the need for specialized investigations or inspections related to occupational injuries and diseases. A fundamental and qualifying part of the training is the mandatory traineeship activity, which is highly professionalizing and carried out in both public and private settings.

Occupational opportunities
Graduates may be employed in the National Health System in the areas of prevention, control and surveillance. They collaborate with the judicial authorities in the context of investigations of health and environmental interest and, if appointed by the competent authority, may perform the duties of a judicial police officer, within the limits of their competences, with inspection and surveillance tasks. They carry out inspections to verify self-certified authorization eligibility and are responsible for the definition, notification, and formulation of opinions regarding any detected irregularities.
They also participate in research and scientific studies, professional training and development, as well as in teaching within university courses and other educational contexts.
In both public and private organizations, graduates may work as employees or in an independent capacity, particularly within corporate Prevention and Protection Services, in roles such as manager or assistant.
Finally, they may serve as technical consultants in judicial settings, acting as Court-Appointed Experts (CTU) for the Public Prosecutor's Office or as Court-Appointed or Party-Appointed Experts (CTU/CTP) in legal disputes.

From Bachelor's degree to Master's degree
The course provides for the continuation of studies with the master's degree course in Prevention Health Sciences, according to modalities that will be indicated in specific admission notice.
