As we develop into an increasingly aging society problems related to hearing have become more evident and hearing aids have solved the problem. If you are interested in the supply, adaptation, and control of prosthetic devices this course will allow you to learn the basic knowledge related to hearing and prostheses as well as how to apply this (through an important practical approach) using modern technology. Understanding auditory rehabilitation and using appropriate testing and equipment to verify the effectiveness of hearing aid devices you will also deal with transversal topics of psychology, informatics, and management. With this course you will be able to enter the workforce, mainly in private structures, acting independently with a doctor's prescription.

Characteristics and objectives
Students will learn principles in Biology e Physiology of the organs and of the mechanisms involved in the sense of hearing, will understand the underlying pathology and disability, even hereditary, will understand the consequences of the disease on aspects such as those psychological, social and environmental.
Students will learn the use of modern technology in the field of hearing rehabilitation, the methods for rehabilitation, the principles and functioning techniques of hearing aids, focusing on how to choose, apply and fit them and will learn how to evaluate the efficacy of intervention via the use of appropriate instruments and tests. Students will learn basic knowledge on the functionality and fitting of cochlear implants and implantable hearing devices.
Occupational opportunities
The Bachelor Degree is a requisite for occupation in private Hearing Aid Centres that are responsible in Italy for the fitting of hearing devices. The graduates can also be employed by public health facilities, either as employees or independent contractors. Even though Hearing aid dispensers apply hearing aids via medical prescription, they shall act in total autonomy and responsibility for the professional acts undertaken and will collaborate with other professional figures involved in the prevention and rehabilitation of hearing loss.
From Bachelor's degree to Master's degree
The three-year Bachelor's Degree allows access to the Master's Degree Course in Health Professions and Technical Diagnostics Science, according to the modalities that will be indicated in the specific notice of admission.
