Characteristics and objectives
The degree course allows students to acquire basic education and training in the humanities, and more refined skills in the art-historical and musicological disciplines. More specifically, it provides not only historical and philological training (with a focus on the period that goes from Antiquity to the 20th century), but also education in the fields of art criticism and museology. Moreover, it fosters a multimodal approach to cultural heritage, capable of setting it against current technical, scientifical, legislative, and digital frameworks for its analysis, protection, and enhancement.
Occupational opportunities
Graduate students are qualified to work with institutions involved in the preservation of cultural heritage, such as superintendencies, museums, libraries, media libraries, and other local institutions. They are entitled to work in opera houses and concert societies, in cooperative societies, and in any fields related to education, public relations, publishing and editing, cataloging, publicity and dissemination. They can also work as independent art experts or musicologists.
