The course is divided into two curricula. Industrial: to directly access the job market, by training university-level technicians; centred on production and management of industrial components, machines and mechanical systems. Educational: it prepares for the master's degree, for the development, design and production of components and highly technological and innovative mechanical systems. Materials, technical physics, mechanics applied to machines, fluid powered machines, electrotechnics, mechanical design, technologies and production systems will be studied. The employment fields concern all the main industry branches: engineering firms, technical offices of public and private entities, territorial entities and research. Design and construction of machines and plants; development, design and production of mechanical components and consumer goods; process design for the mechanical industry; management of production departments and maintenance activities.

Characteristics and objectives
The course has two curricula: Industrial and Educational. The aim of the Industrial curriculum is to educate mechanical engineers for immediate employment in industry, with occupations in design, manufacturing and management of mechanical products and systems. The aim of the Educational curriculum is to educate students with solid theoretical basis for access to the master's degree, during which advanced competences for the design, manufacturing and management of mechanical products and systems with high technological content and innovation will be developed.
The context of reference for both curricula is that of companies and organisations active in the industrial sectors of automotive, automation, machines and plants for energy conversion, manufacturing equipment and in general the industrial production of components, machines and mechanical systems.

Occupational opportunities
A Mechanical Engineer can easily find employment in all main industrial sectors, in engineering offices, and in technical departments of public and private organisations. Typical examples are the design and manufacturing of mechanical components, machines and plants; design of processes for the mechanical industry and others; management of production plants or design departments; planning and organization of maintenance activities; executive staff of technical departments, power plants, public utilities or similar companies; employment in engineering offices and in industrial laboratories.

From Bachelor’s degree to Master’s degree
The Educational curriculum allows direct access to Master's degree courses in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Product Innovation Engineering, Civil and Industrial Safety Engineering, as well as access to other Master's degree courses according to the procedures indicated in the specific admission notices.
The Industrial curriculum may give access to some Master's Degrees, according to the requirements indicated in the specific admission notices.
