A strongly interdisciplinary course that ranges from basic humanistic teachings in the literary, historical, and sociological areas to those related to new technologies of the arts and fields of entertainment. The course offers a variety of classroom activities and workshops involving visual arts, cinema, audio-visual, photography, music, radio, theatre, and television which allow students to personalize their educational path. Students will acquire historical-critical skills in the field of humanistic culture while developing good computer and technological skills as well as argumentative and communicative skills. Students can pursue careers in the design and creation of cultural products in both public and private cultural industries, as well as cultural educators, collaborators, and editors in publishing and in the general media.

Characteristics and objectives

The degree course offers basic humanistic teachings in the literary, historical, and sociological areas related to the field of visual arts, cinema, audio-visual, photography, music, radio, theatre, and television. All studies aim to promote an in-depth historical and critical understanding of each topic. The educational program includes a structured selection of in-class courses and specific workshops aimed at individualizing students' training in the occupational field of their choice. The degree course trains professionals as experts in the field of humanities who are competent in IT and technological skills, equipped with historical-critical knowledge and an articulated theoretical-practical background. While mastering new technologies in the performing arts, students also gain written and speaking fluency in one of the languages of the European Union (English, French, German, or Spanish). Furthermore, students will acquire good argumentative and communicative skills.

Those who obtain a degree in DAMS will be qualified to pursue careers in environments and institutions in the public and private cultural sectors. Professional opportunities available to degree holders depend on personal aptitudes developed through the teachings and workshop activities chosen during coursework.

The degree course provides training for the following professions:

Design and production assistants of cultural projects in the arts, cinema and audio-visual, photography, music, theatre, and multimedia. These professionals operate in the design and production of events across various phases of preparation, design, and execution of events (with private and public production entities, organizations, and event distribution, including tourism; in artistic and cinematic institutions, opera houses, theatre, and musical agencies, archives and museums; in cultural festivals, and public and private television and radio). Graduates collaborate in producing documentation and research in preparation for the events in question, collecting bibliographic resources and iconographic and multimedia contributions. They assist in the creation, set-up, and instalment of multimedia products.

Cultural-education professionals in the arts, cinema, audio-visual, photography, music, theatre, and multimedia. Graduates work alongside others towards the conception and creation of educational and cultural projects that aim to enhance knowledge of expressive language related to the sectors in question. These professionals work to develop projects to create awareness and educate the public about art, performance, and various media cultures. They carry out activities in the didactic areas of museums and film libraries, as well as in cultural institutions and associations in the field and with authorities and businesses engaged in promoting tourism; in addition, they collaborate with schools and communities to organize laboratory activities;
-editorial collaborators promoting the dissemination of arts, cinema and audio-visual, photography, music, theatre, and multimedia. These professionals create content for the cultural industry (press offices in cultural, performance, and tourism institutions for the field in question). They work in the editorial sector (publishing field in question, newspapers, and specialized journals and magazines, including multimedia) in television, radio, and other media.
