A course that responds to the ever-growing demand for information processing tools in every sector, providing the skills to design and implement solutions for the problems - even complex ones - that characterise computerised contexts. You may choose between a general and an ‘applied’ curriculum and you will acquire basic knowledge of mathematics, physics and computer science, the fundamentals of information engineering and in-depth knowledge of computer engineering (programming languages, computer architectures, data processing systems) . You will be able to deal with automation of services, company information systems, integrated systems for plants monitoring, network - distributed systems and applications, embedded processing systems, systems for the analysis of large amounts of data and machine learning.

Characteristics and objectives
The degree course in Computer Engineering prepares a professional, first-level engineer, able to work in the fields of design, production, operation and maintenance of information processing systems, in the most diverse production contexts and services. The course also prepares students to continue their studies in second-level courses both in the area of Computer Engineering and in related fields in the area of Information Engineering and, more generally, of Applied Sciences. The current articulation in two curricula, general and applicative, presents in depth the specific methodologies of computer engineering, which are widely treated both in the second and in the third year. Some aspects of application are also highlighted, especially in the second curriculum proposed. Some teachings are dedicated to presenting the foundations of information engineering. The first year is dedicated to acquiring the basic knowledge of mathematics, physics and computer science.

Occupational opportunities
The pervasive dissemination of information processing tools in each sector of activity makes the whole of the computer engineer employment areas extremely broad. Among these are of particular relevance: the automation of services in public and private institutions; corporate information systems; integrated supervision systems; distributed systems and applications, especially multimedia ones; embedded processing systems, systems for the analysis of large amounts of data and machine learning systems.

From Bachelor's degree to Master's degree
Graduates in Computer Engineering can directly access the Master Degree in Computer Engineering from the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Padua. The continuation of studies towards other master degrees offered by the Department, in the area of Information Engineering, and offered by other Departments and by other Universities, requires the fulfillment of the access requirements as indicated in the respective admissions notices.
