Class: LM-46 - Dentistry and orthodontics
The only professional figure authorised to carry out diagnostic, drug and surgical therapy activities in the field of dental arches - and related tissues - is the dentist. If you are interested in finding a solution to mouth and tooth health problems, this course will give you solid theoretical foundations (regarding basic sciences and medical sciences with dental interest) to allow you to know all the different specialties in the dental field and to know how to apply the most modern techniques with patients; in addition, the internship activities, starting from the second year, will allow you to make actual use of what you have learned in order to gain experience in outpatient practice. The course will allow you to enter job market either in public or private structures (also as a freelancer in a private practice).

Characteristics and objectives
The undergraduate course is structured in six years, for 360 CFU.
The student will learn medical knowledge and technical skill to conduct activity of prevention, diagnosis, healing and rehabilitation related to diseases, and more in general, health problems of the mouth and the teeth. The student will study base science, medical science of a dental interest and epidemiological aspects of dental diseases. The study course is structured to let the student learn all the kind of specialities of dentistry. Particular attention is given to carrying out the professional internship and to the practical evaluation internship (TPV) which allows access to the qualifying state exam.
Occupational opportunities
In order to work as a dentist, a national professional qualification is required. The graduate will work mainly in private practice or in hospital and public health service.
