About myself 

A veterinary doctor with a 10 year-experience dedicated to disease control, epidemiology, and food safety, I have recently embarked on a new chapter to excel my expertise. Pursuing a master's degree in Food and Health aligns with my aspiration to augment my scientific knowledge at the intersection of food and human health. This academic journey serves as a testament to my commitment to excellence and continuous learning.
My love for science and nature is the driving force behind my professional pursuits, while an insatiable curiosity fuels my exploration of the world. Beyond my scientific endeavours, my interests extend to history and culture. Delving into the rich tapestry of different cultures, I find joy in understanding the linguistic elements that shape societies. What do you like the most about the Food and Health degree programme? Why would you recommend it to other students?

Embarking on the Food and Health degree programme has been an enlightening journey for me, providing an in-depth understanding of essential comprehensions of human health and its link to nutrition, food quality and safeness. Personally, I preferred this programme due to its interconnection of food safety and human health related aspects. In today's world, where foodborne illnesses pose a constant threat, gaining expertise in ensuring the safety of our food sources is paramount. The programme beautifully elucidates the intricate connection between Food Safety and Science to Human Health. It delves into the profound impact that the quality of our diet can have on our overall well-being. This holistic approach fosters a deeper comprehension of how the foods we choose can either contribute to or detract from our health. Armed with this knowledge, graduates are better positioned to make informed dietary choices, promoting not only their personal health but also contributing to broader public health initiatives. The curriculum also encompasses Food Science and Production, unravelling the fascinating world of food technology and innovation. This facet of the programme has been instrumental in broadening my perspective on the intricacies involved in bringing food from the farm to our tables. Understanding the processes behind food production not only enhances our appreciation for the industry but also fosters a sense of responsibility towards sustainable and ethical practices. In conclusion, the Food and Health degree programme stands out for its comprehensive approach to education. From instilling a profound understanding of Food Safety to unravelling the complexities of Human Metabolism and disease, the programme not only equips students with a diverse skill set but also instils a sense of responsibility towards fostering a healthier society.

Is there any class/subject that stood out to you?

Among the diverse array of classes in the Food and Health degree programme, the following have notably stood out for me. Firstly, the Food Safety course heightened my awareness of food-related risks and equipped me with practical skills for ensuring food safety standards. Genomics of Nutrition provided a fascinating exploration of how our genetics influence nutritional needs, offering a personalized perspective. Delving into Food Toxicology deepened my understanding of potential hazards in our diet, fostering skills to manage foodborne toxins. Lastly, Mechanisms of Tissues Diseases expanded my knowledge of physiological processes underlying health issues, contributing to a holistic understanding of metabolic diseases. These courses collectively enriched my educational journey, providing both theoretical insights and practical applications in the field of Food and Health.

What advice would you give to potential students thinking of studying in Italy?

For prospective students considering studying in Italy, a successful and rewarding academic journey begins with careful planning and a grasp of the subtleties involved. Here are some important bits of advice to consider:

This foundational knowledge will not only help you make an informed decision but also enable you to excel in your studies. The riverside of Portello, in particular, has become a favourite spot of mine, providing a picturesque setting for relaxation and socializing. The serene atmosphere along the riverbanks makes it an ideal place for cycling, an activity I thoroughly enjoy both in Padua and in its suburbs. Student life in Padua is dynamic and inclusive, with numerous social events tailored for students. These gatherings not only serve as excellent opportunities to make friends but also provide a gateway into the rich tapestry of Italian culture. Engaging in these events has been instrumental in broadening my social circle and fostering a sense of community within the student body. One of the perks of residing in Padua is its location, offering proximity to other Italian cities. Weekend getaways to iconic destinations such as Venice and Verona have become cherished moments. The ease of travel allows for exploration of these historical and cultural treasures, enriching my overall experience as a student in Italy.
