Being a part of the Master’s degree programme in Computer Engineering has been an immensely rewarding expereince, and there are several aspects that stand out to me. First and foremost, I am truly impressed by the programme’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technology. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to encompass a comprehensive range of topics, from theoretical foundations to practical applications. The professors bring a wealth of knowledge, ensuring that we, as students, are equipped with the latest insights and skills demanded by the rapidly evolving field of computer engineering. One of the standout features of the programme is its emphasis on hands-on-learning. The projects and research experience embedded in the coursework provide invaluable opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems. Two classes that have particularly stood out to me until now are Machine Learning, and Automata, Languages and Computation. The Machine Learning course content is not only relevant but also incredibly engaging. The course delves into the fascinating world of artificial intelligence, allowing student to explore various machine learning algorithms, techniques, and applications. On the other hand, Automata, Languages and Computation has been equally captivating. This course provides a deep dive into the theoretical underpinnings of computation, offering a solid foundation in formal languages, automata theory, and computational complexity. The logical and mathematical aspects of the subject matter not only stimulate critical thinking but also lay the groundwork for a deeper understanding of algorithms and their efficiencies. The professors’ expertise and passion for these subjects have been evident, creating an inspiring and intellectually stimulating learning environment.

As I am still in the early stages of my degree, my current emphasis is on exploring internship opportunities for my master’s thesis. To familiarize myself with various job positions and enhance my approach to the application process, I recently participated in a seminar organized by the University’s Career Service. The Career Service has established connections with a diverse range of companies, offering advice on crafting effective CVs and cover letters – crucial components of our initial interactions with potential employers. Additionally, I had the opportunity to attend a career fair in Padua, featuring representatives from over a hundred companies. This experience proved instrumental in expanding my knowledge about the specific job profiles that companies are seeking. Engaging with industry professional at the fair allowed me to gain a clearer understanding of the skills and qualifications valued in the job market.

For me, there’s nothing quite like the simple joy of gathering with friends in one of the central bars, soaking in the lively atmosphere, and relishing a cup of coffee or a cold drink. Piazza dei Signori, with its buzzing bars and the captivating astronomical clock, has become my go-to for enjoying the vibrant city vibe. One of my favourite places is Giardini dell’Arena, situated between the city centre and the train station as it’s an ideal spot for a laid-back reading time or conversation with friends over some spritz. Another gem is Prato della Valle, perfect for picnics, casual strolls, or even a quick workout to break up the day. I love spending my weekends exploring the historical centre, visiting the numerous museums and churches with fascinating frescoes and medieval works of art. Moreover, weekends are an opportunity for exciting day trips to nearby magical cities in Veneto – like the famous Venice, Verona, and Vicenza.
