After obtaining a PhD in Social and Personality Psychology (title of the thesis: "Interculture, discourse, institutions. Study of a system of activities in the territory") and having carried out research activities, with an interdisciplinary approach, within the Interdepartmental Centre CIRSIM, over the last decade Valentina Scchiavinato has participated in various research and training projects, privileging the perspective of the sociology of cultural and communicative processes, promoted by the Hermes research group at the FISPPA department (https://hermes-unipd.it) and by the inter-university research centre FIDR (https://irc-fidr.it).

She has been a visiting scholar at the Center for Language, Interaction, and Culture - CLIC (University of California Los Angeles) and participated in the Summer Schools "Language and Identity" and "Conversation Analysis" at the Graduate School in Language and Communication (University of Southern Denmark, Odense), developing her knowledge of qualitative research methods, in particular ethnography, discourse analysis and conversation analysis.

Her most recent research activities concern cultural and religious plurality in public institutions, with a focus on the prison and hospital context, and identity construction processes.

She is currently involved in the PRIN 2022 research project 'Islam and Muslims in Italy. Actors, Social Space and Relations between Religious Communities and the State'.

In particular, he collaborated on the University research project "Cultural and religious diversity at the test of a total institution. Social actors and spaces for prayer in Italian prisons" and the Project "Transfer Radicalisation Approaches in Training -TRAINING", financed by the European Community, led by the Ministry of Justice (participating in a research activity in the juvenile penal sector).

She took part in the project "PriMED - Prevention and Interaction in the Trans-Mediterranean Space", financed by the MUR, which involved 12 Italian universities and 10 universities from OIC countries on the topics of interaction and countering radicalisation. In this context, she collaborated in the different training activities addressed to Muslim religious personnel in Italy.

She also participated in the international project "Arriver en Europe, partir d'Europe: trajectoires marocaines et turques", within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, conducting research on the identity dynamics of young people with a migratory background, of Moroccan origin, in Italy.

Since their establishment, she has collaborated in the coordination of the Master in European Islamic Studies and the Master in Religions, Politics and Citzenship and, currently, the International Master in Religion, Politics ang Global Society, offered by the University of Padova in partnership with the University of Piemonte Orientale and the Université Internationale de Rabat (Morocco).

She taught and participated in seminars and workshops at international level (Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Rabat).

She is a member of the inter-university research centre FIDR (https://irc-fidr.it) and chercheuse associée at the Center for Global Studies of the Université International de Rabat.
