I am Full Professor of Literatures in English.

My main areas of research are nineteenth-century material culture and the novel, interescetions between literatures and the science in both nineteenth-century and contemporary culture, thing theory. I am also working on material culture studies, corporeality and the complexities of embodiment, publishing on more contemporary issues and authors (Coetzee, Ishiguro, Kureishi, Crace, Figes).


I sat on the Executive Board of AISCLI (2016-2021)
I have been Presidente di Corso di laurea in Lingue, Letterature e Mediazione culturale (Head of the BA Degree course in Languages, Literatures and Cultural Mediation), October 2016-October 2020.

I am finishing a book on Complex Embodiment, which focusses on disability studies and the representation of bodies in contemporary Anglophone fiction.
I have recently edited a special issue of Prospero (Dec. 2015), dedicated to 'Unforgiving Memory'.


My teaching activities have included, among others, advanced courses (MA, magistrali) in cultural studies, trauma fiction, Romantic poetry, critical disability studies.
