I am associate professor in Political Science and International Relations at the Department of Politics, Law and International Studies (SPGI) of the University of Padova, Italy.
At the University of padova I am co-coordinator of Scholars at Risk (and the Italian SAR section), vice-director of the Elena Cornaro University Center for Gender Studies (https://www.centroelenacornaro.unipd.it), and founding member of the research group Next Generation Global Studies (www.nextgenerationglobalstudies.eu).

I teach courses in Communication Practices Diversity and Inclusion, Public values in Media and ICT, and Communication governance. I am the reference person for a number of Erasmus exchange flows with European institutions, including a trans-european Master in GenderEquality; and I work to promote international research and training activities, mostly focused on the nexus between global transformations and communication, media and mediations, governance and networks, with a gender equality perspective.

I am member of the International Council of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) where I chair (since 2008) the Working Group on Global Media Policy. I have published extensively on topics related to my research interests – global transformations and communication, transnational mobilization, communication rights, gender equality in and through the media - with interventions in international journals and contributions to international collections, with a special focus on Global Media Policy. I am co-editor of the IAMCR/Palgrave series Global Transformations in Media and Communication Research and I also sit on editorial boards of national and international journals (The International Communication Gazette; Continuum. Journal of Media and Cultural Studies; Anuario ININCO: investigaciones de la comunicación; Partecipazione e Conflitto; ComPol, Comunicazione Politica).

I collaborate with non-academic, not-for-profit national and international entities operating in media and communication-related areas such as the international Global Media Monitoring Project (www.whomakesthenews.org) (2000-2015).

I am mother of an inspiring young women; I like traveling and intercultural encounters; I love music and figurative art and cultivate a passion for dancing and artistic expressions.

Area di ricerca

My main areas of interest concern the transformation of political processes in the global context and their connection to the evolution of communication dynamics and technologies. These include:
- global governance, multi-stakeholderism, network approaches to the study of global politics;
- the transformative role of norms and power in world politics;
- global civil society as a global actor;
- global communication policy and Internet Governance: issues, actors, networks;
- digital constitutionalism, fundamental rights in the digital age;
- trans-national social mobilizations and trans-national advocacy networks, particularly around media reform, media democratization and communication rights;
- connections and disconnection between communication, media and women as well as gender-related issues of equality and discrimination, with a focus on related governing arrangements and social practices, both at the European level and transnationally.
