Research Area

Her scientific research has mainly concerned the study of palynomorphs preserved in sediments, mainly pollen, spores and remains of fungi. These microfossils are known to be useful proxies for palaeoenvironment parameters. She studied them for the reconstruction of climatic history, of palaeo-geography and of the human impact in the Eastern Venetian Plan. She analyzed Pleistocene and Holocene sediments taken from sub-soil stratigraphic sequences and archaeological sites. Research has always been carried out in multidisciplinary contexts in order to cross-check the hypotheses suggested by the analysis of palynomorphs with those suggested by other environmental proxies and with archaeological and geomorphological evidence. Recently she participated to the following research project:
Project CARIPARO 2007-2008 "Padova underground: an integrated geo-archaeological investigation of the roots of the city". Scient. coord. dr. Paolo Mozzi.
Scient. coord. Prof. A. Carton.
A. M. Mercuri.
INTERREG Italy-Slovenia Project 2011-2013 SiiT “School-oriented Interactive Identification Tools: exploring biodiversity in a cross-border area” - Scient. Coord. PL Nimis.
