Giovanni A. LONGO, born November 27, 1961, is Professor of Technical Physics at the University of Padova where he gives lectures on Applied Thermodynamics and Heat transfer in Electronic Equiments. Giovanni A. LONGO was head of the Department of Management and Engineering from 2012 to 2019, where he has in charge the Heat Technology Laboratory and the Nano-Heat Transfer Laboratory. He is vice-president of the commision E1 - Air Conditioning of the International Institute of Refrigeration since 2016, member of the Scientific Committee of the International Sorption Heat Pump Conference since 2008 and he was chair of the International Sorption Heat Pump Conference 2011 (ISHPC2011) and of the IIR Conference on Thermophysical Properties and Transfer Processes of Refrigerants (TPTPR2021). He was member of the Academic Senate of the University of Padova from 2015 to 2019 and he was member of the Scientific Committee of the University of Padova from 2008 to 2012. Moreover he was member of the evaluation committee of the conservatory “A. Pedrollo” in Vicenza from 2012 to 2018 and member of the qualification committee for the national scientific qualification as associate or full professor in Italian universities of technical physics and nuclear engineering from 2016 to 2018. He acts as a reviewer for several international journals, including International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, International Journal of Refrigeration, Applied Thermal Engineering, Solar Energy, Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, International Journal of Energy Research, International Journal of Thermal Sciences.
The research activity of Giovanni A. LONGO deals with two-phase heat transfer, absorption systems and nano-fluids heat transfer. The research on two-phase heat transfer concerns refrigerant condensation and vaporisation inside and outside enhanced and plate heat exchangers. The research on absorption systems concerns both the analysis of traditional absorption machines and the study of sorption dehumidification of air by liquid desiccants. The research activity on nano-fluid heat transfer deals with the measurement of heat transfer coefficients and pressure drop during single phase heat transfer inside tubular and plate heat exchangers together with the measurement of the thermodynamic and thermophysical properties of nano-fluids.
Giovanni A. LONGO is author or co-author of more than 250 scientific papers published in referenced national and international journals or presented at national and international congresses and conferences and of two international patents.
