Egidio Ivetic (Pola 1965) is Professor of Early Modern History at University of Padua where he teaches History of the Mediterranean and History of Eastern Europe. He is a fellow of the Academy Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti in Venice.
Ivetic graduated in Letters (Modern History) at the University of Padua in 1990, with honours. He studied Slavic studies at the same university and completed PhD studies in History at Ca' Foscari University of Venice. In 1998 he obtained his PhD from the University of Milan with a National PhD commission.
He has been teaching at the University of Padua since 1999, where he was advisor to the Rector for Eastern Europe (2010-2015) and he is the university's representative in the Coimbra Group Universities (Working Group in Social Sciences and Humanities), as well as a university stakeholder in the initiative UniAdrion of the Adriatic-Ionian Euro-Region.
Ivetic is editor of the journal «Studi Veneziani». Ivetic won Roberto Cessi Award 2002 for the History of Venice, Giuseppe Galasso Award 2019 for History, Mediterranean Culture Award 2020, and Premio Napoli Award 2023.
He is currently working on the topic: Italy and the Mediterranean in the modern age (1450-1860).
