Alessandro Chiuso received the ``Laurea'' degree summa cum laude in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Padova in July 1996 and the Ph.D. degree (Dottorato di ricerca) in System Engineering from the University of Bologna in 2000. Since May 2017 he is Full Professor with the Department of Information Engineering, Università di Padova. (Associate Professor from March 2006 to April 2017 and "Ricercatore'' (Assistant Professor) from March 2001 to February 2006)

He has held visiting positions with the Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Washington University St. Louis (USA) (visiting research scholar, August 1998-June 1999), with the Dept. Mathematics, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden (EU-TMR Post-Doctoral fellow, March 2000-July 2000), and has been for short term research visits (from few days to one month) in well known international institution, among which TuE (Prof. P. van den Hof), UCLA (Prof. Stefano Soatto), Linkoping University (Prof. L. Ljung, T. Chen), Kyoto University (Prof. Y. Otha), University of Melbourne (Prof. G. Nair), University of Texas at Austin (Prof. J. Qin), Royal Institute of Technology (Dr. P. Enqvist).

He is Senior Editor for Automatica, he has been an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology (2013-) AUTOMATICA (2008-), European Journal of Control (2011-), IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control (2010-2012) and has served in the Editorial Board of IET Control Theory and Applications (2007-2013). He has been (2004-2009) an Associate Editor of the IEEE Control System Society Conference Editorial Board and a reviewer for Mathematical Reviews of the AMS. He is chair of the IFAC Technical Committee on Modeling,Identification and Signal Processing and member of the IEEE CSS Technical Committee on Identification and Adaptive Control.

Alessandro Chiuso is now Team Leader of the UNIPD/Italy team of the European Research Network on System Identification (ERNSI)

He has been member of the International Program Committee for the international conferences: IEEE Conference on Decision and Control 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2017 and 2018, SYSID 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2018, Mediterranean Control Conference 2006, Mathematical Theory of Networks and Systems 2004, 2006 and 2010, NecSYS 2018 and Technical Associate Editor for the 2014 and 2017 IFAC World Congresses. Alessandro Chiuso has organized several invited sessions and minicourses in conjunction with major international conferences among which: CDC 2007 and 2013, IFAC SYSID 2003, 2006 and 2012, IFAC World Congress 2005, MTNS 2004, ECCV 2002.

Alessandro has been a plenary speaker at the 17th IFAC Symposium on System Identification (SYSID 2015) and has given invited presentations on the occasion of international conferences/workshops/schools.

Alessandro has been Principal Investigator (PI) of a FIRB project (2013-2017) funded by MIUR and of two local projects (funded by the University of Padova).

His research interest are mainly in Estimation, Identification Theory and Applications (subspace methods, stochastic realization, non-linear estimation, hybrid systems, adaptive optics), Computer Vision (structure from motion, texture and gait analysis) and Networked Estimation and Control.
