Daria Battini is Full Professor of Industrial Systems and Logistics at the University of Padua since 2018. She helds a PhD in Industrial Engineering and she graduated cum laude at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
She is the coordinator of the European Project MAIA, H2020-RISE-MSCA (www.maiaproject.eu) and Spoke Coordinator in the project MICS (Made in Italy Circolare e Sostenibile, https://www.mics.tech/).
She teaches and conducts research in the field of industrial system design and management: in particular flexible assembly systems design, logistic systems mapping, modeling and optimization with particular attention to ergonomics in material handling and in assembly, the inventory management and product/process traceability, industry 5.0 and systems resilience.
Her researches are published in several international journals, international conference proceedings, trade magazines, industry reports and newspapers. She published more than 150 scientific papers, published in International ISI journals or in proceeding of International conferences Peer Reviewed. She is associate editor of the International Journal of Production Economics and editorial board member of relevant journals as the Int. Journal of Production Research, the Journal of Management Control, the International Journal of Optimization and Control: Theories & Applications and the Int. Journal of Integrated Supply Management.
Since 2007 she started researches on Simulation Game and Learning Game design and in collaboration with other colleagues of the University of Padua, she developed the Logistc Game™, a new simulation game for learning by doing and knowledge sharing. The Logistic Game has been registered as a EU community trade mark from the University of Padova in 2009.
She collaborates with relevant international researchers and in particular with the Rutgers University (USA, Prof. H.Pham), the NTNU (NORWEY, Prof. Fabio Sgarbossa), Kedge Business School (FRANCE, Prof. Olga Battaia), Berlin University (GERMANY, Prof. Dmitry Ivanov), il DTU (Danimarca, Prof. Larsen), il TUM (Germania, Prof. Stefan Minner), l'Università di Lubiana (Slovenia, Prof. M. Bogotaj), l'Università di Darmstadt (Germania, Prof. C. Glock), il Baruch College (Prof. Ajay Das).
At the University of Padua she is Professor of Material Flow Systems and Logistics Networks in the MSc in Industrial Engineering . Daria also teaches Industrial Logistics in the MSc in Mechanical Engineering and she is the responsible of the ERASMUS agreement between Padova University and the DTU (Denmark) and between Padova University and the Berlin School of Economics and Law. She is a member of IFAC, EUROMA and AIDI and an expert member in ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and UNI (Ente Italiano di Normazione). Daria Battini has been named in the last Stanford Highly Cited Researchers list (2023).

Research Area
Daria Battini research activities cover industrial plants feasibility studies, assembly and production systems design and optimization, supply and distribution networks mapping, modelling and improvement, dynamic modelling of complex systems with particular regards to the analysis of the sustainability and traceability of materials, resources and processes in the healthcare supply chain and in manufacturing industriees.
