Alessandro Sona received the Laurea degree (summa cum laude) in electronics engineering from the University of Padova, Italy, in 1999 and the Ph.D. degree in electronic instrumentation from the University of Brescia, Italy, in 2002. Since then he joined the Department of Information Engineering (from 2002 to 2010) and the Department of Management and Engineering (from 2011) of the University of Padova, where is currently Assistant Professor of Instrumentation and Measurement. His main interests lay in the field of electromagnetic compatibility, sensors, digital acquisition and measurement systems. He cooperates in research projects on electromagnetic compatibility, harmonic analysis, sensors and measurement systems, wireless communication systems. He is author or co-author of books and several papers published in international scientific reviews and proceedings of international conferences. He currently teaches in university courses at the University of Padova, concerning Electronic Instrumentation and Electromagnetic Compatibility.

Teachings

Research Area

1) Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).
Study and analysis of electromagnetic interference phenomena in electronic boards and equipment. Harmonic analysis in switching circuits using augmented matrix analysis techniques. Design and implementation of measuring systems for the analysis of EMC phenomena and experimental verification of innovative solutions for the reduction or cancellation of EMC problems. Study and development of innovative design techniques for EMC optimization of boards and electronic equipment, and in particular their layout and grounding system. Study and experimentation of innovative measurement techniques for diagnostics and pre-compliance estimation of EMC phenomena.

2) Measurements for automation
Study and analysis of techniques and systems for the detection and recognition of objects/persons through contactless sensors. Development of test systems for the experimentation and optimization of innovative devices and techniques for sensing, acquisition and processing data in the ultrasonic and radiofrequency fields. Study and development of innovative techniques of sensing, wireless acquisition and processing for applications in areas such as: security, anti-terrorism, disaster recovery, sports rehabilitation, medicine, etc..
