Laura Sanò teaches Storia della filosofia contemporanea (History of Contemporary Philosophy) in the Philosophy degree program and Storia della filosofia (History of Philosophy) in the Humanities degree program at the University of Padua.
She is co-editor of Paradosso, a Class A academic journal in Area 11 – Philosophy.
Until the academic year 2016, she served on the board of the Philosophy Degree Programs and was faculty coordinator for internships, practical workshops, and laboratory activities (Altre Attività, Law 270/2004, art. 10, letter d) for both the Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Philosophy.
From January 2017 to 2024, she was a member of the review committee (Gruppo di riesame) for the Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and the Master's degree in Scienze Filosofiche.
Since December 2024, she has been serving on the committee responsible for evaluating applications for supplementary teaching assignments (didattica integrativa).
Since April 2025, she has been coordinator of the advisory committee (Comitato di indirizzo, History of Philosophy) for the Doctoral School in Philosophy.
She is the author of numerous articles and monographs on contemporary philosophical thought. In addition to three volumes devoted to the tradition of “negative thought” (Un daimon solitario. Il pensiero di Andrea Emo, La Città del Sole, 2001; Il monoteismo democratico. Religione, politica e filosofia nei Quaderni del 1953 di Andrea Emo, Bruno Mondadori, 2003; Le ragioni del nulla. Il pensiero tragico nella filosofia italiana tra Ottocento e Novecento, Città Aperta Edizioni, 2005), she has published four works on the thought of Rachel Bespaloff: Un pensiero in esilio. In recent years, her research has focused on historically and philosophically framing the problem of violence in its various forms and expressions. This inquiry is developed in particular through the thought of three major female figures of 20th-century philosophy—Simone Weil, Rachel Bespaloff, and Hannah Arendt—as well as through authors such as Carlo Michelstaedter and Franz Kafka.
Within this framework, the following works were published: Leggere la Persuasione e la rettorica di Carlo Michelstaedter, Ibis, 2011; Donne e Violenza. Filosofia e guerra nel pensiero del ‘900, Mimesis, 2012. Also noteworthy is the volume exploring the intersections between ethics and politics: Metamorfosi del potere. Percorsi e incroci tra Arendt e Kafka, Inschibboleth, 2017.
