Andrea Pintimalli, Phd trained in the fields of Islamic Studies and History of Religions, with a particular focus on medieval Arabic philosophy and religious comparison. Currently a lecturer in Arabic Language at the University of Padua, Department of Historical Geographical Sciences and Antiquity (DiSSGeA), he is also a research fellow within the project ‘Transformations of the musical heritage in Africa from Persian and Arabic Travelogues’, Department of Cultural Heritage (Beni Culturali). In addition, he is a lecturer for History of Medieval Arabic Philosophy and History of Islamic Thought at the same university.

With a PhD in History of Religions from La Sapienza University of Rome, Pintimalli focused on the work of al-Bīrūnī, analysing studies on other religious traditions. He also holds a Master's Degree in Religions and Cultural Mediation and has completed a Higher Education Course in History of Religions.

He has experience in the field of applied research on the prevention of Islamic radicalism. Between 2020 and 2022, he collaborated with Programma Integra in the European project OPEN, aimed at countering online radicalisation through the involvement of civil society organisations and new media.

He is also engaged in research in the field of Contemplative Studies, where he combines historical-religious expertise with cognitive science.

He has participated in numerous international conferences, presenting papers on topics such as the representation of religion in medieval Islamic philosophy and the neuroscientific implications of contemplative practices.

In addition to his academic activities, he is involved in projects for citizenship education through the History of Religions with the UniVersolAltro Association (UVA), a social promotion association that aims to foster intercultural dialogue and understanding of religious diversity.

Member of several international associations such as the International Qur'anic Studies Association (IQSA) and the Italian Society for the History of Religions (SISR) and the International Society for Contemplative Research (ISCR).
