EDUCATION
1986: degree in physics at the University of Florence.
1990: PhD in Physics at the University of Genoa.
1991-1992: research associate at the Matematisches Institut der Universitaet Muenchen with an annual fellowship of DFG.
1995-1997: two years Post-Doc Fellowship at the Department of Nuclear and Theoretical Physics at the University of Pavia

WORK EXPERIENCE
From 1992-95: tenured teacher of mathematics and physics in secondary schools.
From 1998 to 2006: research assistant (“Ricercatore”) of the History of Science and.
From 2006: associate professor of the History of Physics.
4/12/2012: national habilitation as full professor of the History of Science and Technology.

GRANTS
- From 2000 he manages as Principal Investigator (PI) Research Projects financed by the University (funds ex quota 60%).
- From 2001 he manages as PI Projects financed by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), dedicated to science popularization and the cultural heritage (ex lex 6/2000).
- From 1999 to 2001 he is member of Padua “Unità di Ricerca” for 1999 PRIN on “Foundation of Quantum Mechanics”.
- From 2003 to 2005 he is the PI of Padua “Unità di Ricerca” for 2003 PRIN, dedicated to a first reconstruction of the History of Nuclear and Subnuclear Physics in Padua.
- From 2005 to 2007 he is the PI of Padua “Unità di Ricerca” for 2005 PRIN (“Nuclear and Subnuclear Physics in Italy from 1930 to 1970”).
- From 2010 to 2012 he is PI of the Research Project of the University dedicated to “Celestial mechanics, geophysics, astrophysics, and cosmology in Nineteenth and Twentieth Century: an example of cross-fertilization of sciences”.
- In 2017 he is selected for annual funding for basic research activities (FABR), financed by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR).

REFEREE ACTIVITIES
He is a Referee for several national and international journals (such as Il Nuovo Cimento, Nuncius, Physics Letters A, American Journal of Physics, Journal of Science Communication, Foundations of Science), and for National Projects of Research (PRIN).
He was member of the panel of referees of the Italian Policy Committee for the Evaluation of Research (CIVR), and for the Evaluation of Research Quality (VQR) 2004-10 of the National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes. He was also member of the Group of Evaluation Experts (GEV) for the Area 02 - Physics for the VQR 2011-14.

MEMBERSHIPS AND HONORS
He is member of the Italian Society of Logic and Philosophy of Science (SILFS), of the Italian Physical Society (SIF), and of the Italian Society of the historians of Physics and Astronomy (SISFA). From 1996 up 2004, he was founding-member and secretary of the Italian Society of Foundations of Physics (SIFF).
In 2013 he was elected corresponding member of the Accademia Galileiana di Scienze Lettere ed Arti of Padova.
In 2017 he was awarded the prize for the history of physics by the Italian Physical Society (SIF).
