Roberto Oboe received the Laurea degree in Electronic Engineering in 1988 from the University of Padova. In 1990 he was a visiting researcher at the Department of Electrical Engineering of Keio University in Yokohama. Here he started his research activity in the field of servo-control of robotic joints. He worked on the same topic during his PhD course at the University of Padova and concluded in 1992. From 1993 to 2003 he was a researcher in Automatic Control at the University of Padova. From 2005 to 2008 he was an Associate Professor in Automatic Control at the Department of Mechanical and Structural Engineering of the University of Trento. Since 2008 he has been an Associate Professor in Automatic Control at the Department of Industrial Systems Technique and Management, University of Padova. In 1996 he was a visiting researcher at the Biorobotics Lab. of the Univ. of Washington - Seattle. Here he collaborated on the realization of a system for haptic interaction with shared virtual environments. In 1997, he was a visiting researcher at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), where he worked on the realization of an Internet-based telerobotic system with haptic feedback. In 2000 he was a visiting researcher at the Center for Magnetic Recording Research of the University of California San Diego and in 2002 at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of California, Berkeley. His interests are in the fields of Motion Control, MEMS control, Digital Control, Telerobotics and Haptic Devices. He is the author of more than 100 papers and 4 international patents. He is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and has been an associate editor of the Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society and of the ASME/IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, and was Vice President for Planning and Development, Vice President for Technical Activities, AdCom Member and founder of the Technical Committee on Motion Control of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society.
