Sonia Montemurro is a Psychologist and Psychotherapist, registered with the professional association (No. 12187). She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Padova, graduating cum laude from the Brain, Mind, and Computer Science School, where her research focused on the clinical neuropsychology of healthy and pathological aging.

Sonia Montemurro has clinical training and experience in Neuropsychological Assessment and Systemic-Relational Psychotherapy. She has conducted scientific research at various institutions: the University of Padova, the University of Lincoln (UK), the University of Montréal (Canada), and the neuro-rehabilitation institute IRCCS Ospedale San Camillo (Venice, Italy), where she coordinated clinical and research activities in the field of neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation. She has worked on the development and validation of neuropsychological assessment tools, including screening instruments and test batteries.

Currently, she is involved in clinical psychology and neuropsychology, coordinating a laboratory dedicated to Methodological Innovation in Clinical Neuropsychology (Laboratory NICLA). She collaborates with various clinical centers connected to Territorial Services and medical-hospital institutes (e.g., Addiction Services – SerD). Her research methodology integrates various experimental techniques, such as behavioral analysis, EEG, structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI and fMRI), alongside advanced statistical methods.

Her research interests, outlined in some of the recent projects she has proposed in the last years (e.g., ERC-2024 and STARS@Unipd 2025), focus on investigating the complex interaction between socio-demographic and neurobiological variables in regulating relational processes within organized systems, such as family systems.
