Guido Mongini deals with the history of the religious and political crisis of the sixteenth century and the religious movements between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, with particular reference to the origins of the Society of Jesus. His research interests include the history of utopia, the history of sanctity and mysticism in the modern and contemporary ages, the transformations of the sacred between the modern and contemporary ages, secular religions and the themes of political theology. On each of these topics he has published volumes, articles and editions or anthologies of sources.
