Marco Mondini (b. 1974) studied at the University of Pisa and at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, where he got his PhD in Contemporary History. He has been a Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of Padua (2003-2005), a Research Fellow at the Scuola Normale Superiore (2006-2010) and a Researcher at the Italian-German Historical Institute in Trento (2011-2017) where he was also team leader of the "1914-1918" project (2013-2016). He has also been a visiting professor at the École Normale Superieure of Paris, the University of Lille 3 “Charles de Gaulle” and the University of Paris-Diderot. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in Military History at the University of Padua – Department of Political Sciences (SPGI), an Associate Fellow at the Istituto Storico Italo Germanico-FBK in Trento and a Chercheur Associé at the UMR Sirice (CNRS – Paris Sorbonne). He is a member of the Board of Historial de la Grande Guerre di Péronne (France) and a section editor for “14-18 online. International Encyclopedia of the First World War”. Since 2014, he has been and a scientific consultant of the Italian Government for the Centenary of WW1.
