Research Area

Marine vertebrates conservation, pathology and diseases: this research is aimed to investigate main diseases affecting marine mammals and sea turtles as well as the incidence of the human activities on their conservation, as fishery interaction, pollution and underwater noise exposure. In this regards, research activities are carried out within national and international projects in cooperation with relevant IGOs and cooperating with stranding networks from all the world.

Forensic pathology: directly linked to the previous topic, the development of forensic techniques and approaches are used also in wild terrestrial species, domestic animals and livestock. Research is mainly focused on the application of histochemical and immunohistochemical techniques to support pathological evidences during forensic cases.
