Daniela Lucangeli is a full professor on Developmental Psychology in the University of
Padova from 2005, she had the PhD in Developmental Psychology at the University of
Leiden (1997) following an international project (Erasmus/Socrates). From 1998 to 2001
she was Assistant Professor on Developmental Psychology and in 2001 she became
Associate Professor.
She spent many periods abroad to study and collaborate with several European
universities, such as the Faculty of Social Sciences of Leiden, at the Faculty of Psychology
of Ghent, and the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience (UCL) of London.
She carries out teaching activities at the Faculty of Educational Science, Psychology and
Medicine of University of Padova (in graduate courses, PhD courses and specialization
courses). Moreover, she has held several lessons at Faculty of Psychology of University of
Valencia, concerning Developmental Psychology and Psychopathology of Learning.
Her main areas of research are: mathematical cognition, metacognition, developmental
dyscalculia (assessment and treatment) and learning disabilities.
She is a member of the Ministry of Education's Public to the guidelines for DSA and for
guidance and tutoring.
She is a member of the CNOP (Committee of the National Council of Psychologists), and
member of the Technical Scientific Committee "The educational system of the Veneto
Region".
From 2007 to 2021 she is vice-president (pro-rector) in Tutoring and Counselling for the University
of Padova. She obtained many grants from Department for Education, University and
Research – Scientific Research Program of National Relevance (MIUR):
- 2008 (Prin-cofin) The relationship among motivational aspects, cognitive processes and
self-perceived hearing handicap.
- 2008 (Strategic program) Difficulties and learning disabilities from school to university:
detection, intervention and services for the territory.
- 2006 (Prin-cofin) The cochlear implant in children with associated disabilities:
assessment of the basic psychological profile.
She is president of a teacher national association (CNIS)She is member of other national and international research associations (IARLD, AIRIPA, AIP-Sviluppo).
She is a Scientific director of Polo Apprendimento.
She is a Presidente of Mind4Children Spin-Off President of the University of Padua which supports and promotes the impact of scientific research into actions at the service of human potential through experimentation, dissemination, consultancy and training.

Her main research areas are: the maturational processes of neurodevelopment with particular attention to the relationship between learning and emotions. The experimental research areas specifically concern evolutionary trends (numerical intelligence) and learning difficulties.

She is the author of several research publications in peer-reviewed journals and several books and book chapters. He is a member of the editorial board of many specialized magazines such as Journal of Learning Disabilities and referee for many other international journals (Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, Journal of Educational Psychology).

She is author of about 50 research publications on peer-reviewed journals and several
books and chapters. She is in the editorial board of many educational journals as Journal
of Learning Disabilities and referee for many other international journals (Journal of
Experimental Child Psychology, Journal of Educational Psychology).

General research lines:
A: Maturation processes of typical developmental and neurodevelopmental disorders
B: Learning and warm cognition
C: Atypical profiles: children with special educational needs and gifted children

Research lines, with some of the specific issues, proposed for PhD students:
- mathematical learning in typical and atypical development: numerical cognition within a psychological and educational perspective;
- effects of "instructional" empowerment interventions on learning and warm cognition
- neural correlates in gifted children

Thesis proposals

The experimental theses (1 year of work) are related to evaluation of numerical cognition in kindergarten and nursery school.

Literature theses on educational and social impact evaluation that explore theories and models of project impact evaluation are accepted.
