Arithmetic of elliptic curves and abelian varieties, in particular on Selmer groups and Tate-Shafarevich groups.
Applications of elliptic curves in cryptography.

Topology of complements of singular plane curves, and of complements of singular hypersurfaces in projective space. The relation of these with the theory of knots. Applications in algebraic geometry and commutative algebra.

Geometry and arithemtic of elliptic fibrations and their connection with theoretical physics.
