Maria Dodaro is currently a Contract Lecturer at the University of Padua, where she teaches Sociology of Work as part of the Planning and Organisation of Health Services course within the Master's Degree Programme in Health Professions of Prevention Sciences.

From 2022 to 2024, she held the position of fixed-term researcher (type A) in Sociology of Economic and Labour Processes at the Department of Philosophy, Sociology, Education and Applied Psychology (FISPPA), University of Padua. Between 2019 and 2021, she undertook research assignments at the University of Milano-Bicocca.

At the University of Padua, she has taught Sociology of Work and Organisational Systems within the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Education and Training Sciences (academic years 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25) and Sociological Reasoning in the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Sociology (academic year 2023-24). Additionally, she has contributed to teaching and support activities in undergraduate and doctoral programmes, advanced training courses, and invited seminars in Italy and abroad.

A graduate in Economic and Social Sciences from the University of Calabria (2013), she earned a PhD in Urban Studies from the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy, and in Sociology from the University of Barcelona, Spain, in 2019 through a joint supervision programme. Her doctoral thesis focused on urban policies supporting youth entrepreneurship in Milan and Barcelona, analysing the meanings attributed to entrepreneurship by local policy actors and young beneficiaries and the ambivalent outcomes on social inequalities.

She has undertaken research stays at the CRIT-Creativity, Innovation and Urban Transformation research group at the University of Barcelona (2017-2018, 2024), where she has been an associate member since 2022. She is also a member of the Working Group "Welfare and Institutions" at the Institute for Advanced Study of Social Change (IASSC) within the Department of Sociology and Social Research at the University of Milano-Bicocca; the international research group Urban Agency III: Towards a Sustainable Integration of Disciplines in Urban Studies, coordinated by the Urban Studies Institute at the University of Antwerp and funded by the Flemish Research Council (FWO); the Laboratory of Public Action Sociology "Sui Generis" at the University of Milano-Bicocca; and the Fundational Economy Collective.

Author of a monograph, an edited volume, and several peer-reviewed articles, Maria Dodaro has presented her work at numerous prestigious international conferences, including the 16th Conference of the European Sociological Association (2024), the 20th ISA World Congress of Sociology (2023), the 5th Transforming Care Conference (2021), the RC21 Conference (2021), the Annual Conference of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE) (2020), the EURA Conference (2019), and the 15th Annual ESPAnet Europe Conference (2017).
