Maria Dodaro is Researcher in Economic and Labour Sociology. She teachs Sociology of Work and Organizational Systems in the three-year degree program in Education and Training Sciences, and Sociological Reasoning in the three-year degree program in Sociological Sciences, both at the University of Padua.

Her research interests primarily focus on economic, social, and institutional changes in welfare and social policies, with special attention to the local and urban scale, responsibilisation mechanisms, individualization, social innovation processes, along with the involvement of private/finance actors and logics in welfare states, and the agency of social actors. Additionally, she is interested in the relationship between young people and the labor market, as well as youth activation policies.

Maria Dodaro has an interdisciplinary background. In 2019, she earned a PhD with honors in Urban Studies from the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy, and in Sociology from the University of Barcelona, Spain, as part of a Cotutelle program. Previously, she graduated in Economic and Social Sciences from the University of Calabria.

In 2017 and 2018, she undertook a 14-month visiting period with the research group 'CRIT-Creativity, Innovation and Urban Transformation' at the University of Barcelona. During this time, she also participated in two courses on qualitative data analysis at the ECPR summer school 'Methods and Techniques', held at the Central European University in Budapest.

She has taught and/or provided assistance in teaching for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, as well as led invited seminars both in Italy and abroad.

She is a member of the 'Welfare and Institutions' working group at the Institute for Advanced Study of Social Change (University of Milan-Bicocca), the network of scholars in the 'Foundational Economy Collective', and the research group 'SLANG - Slanting Gaze on Social Control, Labor, Racism, and Migrations' (University of Padua). Additionally, she collaborates with the 'CRIT-Creativity, Innovation, and Urban Transformation' (University of Barcelona) research group as external collaborator.
