Gianmarco De Angelis is Associate Professor in Medieval History at the University of Padova (Department of Historical and Geographic Sciences and the Ancient World- DiSSGeA), where he teaches "History of Middle Ages (Archaeology), "Sources and Methods for Medieval History" (first level degree in History), "Documents and Documentary Cultures of Medieval Europe" (master's degree in Historical Sciences), "Written sources, documentary practices" (CdL in Italian Medieval and Renaissance Studies).
He was scientific head of research unit (University of Padua) within the PRIN project (call for proposals 2017) entitled "Ruling in hard times. Patterns of power and practices of government in the making of Carolingian Italy", national coordinator Giuseppe Albertoni (University of Trento). She is currently scientific head of a research unit (University of Padua) within the PRIN project (call 2022) "Gendering the Tenth century: a taylored model for exploring the sources", national coordinator Tiziana Lazzari (University of Bologna).
Together with Geneviève Bührer-Thierry, Université Paris 1-Panthéon-Sorbonne, and Sylvie Joye, Université de Lorraine, she is coordinator of the project Repenser le Xe siècle au prisme des territoires: régulations et résistances dans une Europe en reformation (870-1000), in partnership with the École française de Rome (2022-2026).

Main research interests:
Gianmarco De Angelis' studies and researches are mainly focused on: writings and charters in Lombard and Carolingian Italy; Carolingian and postcarolingian diplomas as instruments of political communication; legal pluralismus and practices of government in Carolingian and postcarolingian Italy; testaments of bishops in Early and High Medieval Europe; social, cultural and political aspects of medieval notaries' activity; individual and collective urban identities in North-Central Italy; political councils and practices of collective deliberation in the communal age; critical edition of Medieval written sources; history of historiography, with a particular focus on the editors of medieval legal documents and research methodologies in Palaeography and Diplomatics between 19th and 20th century.
