In 2001, she graduated in Management and Engineering with first class honours at University of Padova and in 2005 received her PhD in Management and Engineering at the same University. In 2004, she was visiting scholar at the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School (Gent, Belgium) and in 2006, visiting scholar at the Supply Chain Management Institute of the University of San Diego (CA, USA). Since 2009 she is a member of the faculty board of the Doctoral School in Management Engineering and Real Estate Appraisal (University of Padova), where she is tutor supervisor of several doctoral theses.
She is also a member of the CUOA Lean Enterprise Center (CLEC) Advisory Board, center of excellence for education and research on Lean Management, affiliated from 2008 to 2013 to the Lean Global Network. In 2013, she was a member of the Organizing Committee of Lean Society Forum, international Forum on lean management organized every two years by CLEC.
She is a member of the board and the chair of the communication team of the European Operations Management Association (EurOMA), the main european association in the Operations Management field.
She is a member of the editorial board of prestigious international journals, in particular she is a member of the Editorial Review Board of Journal of Operations Management and Special Issue Editor of International Journal of Operations & Production Management.
Over the years, she has participated to and has been responsible of numerous research projects developed in collaboration with companies operating in different sectors. She is an active member in important international research networks; in particular she is the gate keeper and coordinator for Italy in the High Performance Manufacturing International Research Project, led by Prof. Barbara Flynn (Indiana University).
Her principal research interests focus on Lean Management and Supply Chain Management. She is author of more than 100 publications, and has published in: Omega, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, International Journal of Production Research, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Transportation Research: Part E, Industrial Management & Data Systems, Interfaces, Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management, Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management, Supply Chain Forum: An International Journal.
In 2007, she published the book: Gestione delle operations e dei processi, edited by Pearson Education (in collaboration with Slack N., Chambers S., Johnston R., Betts A., Romano P., Vinelli A.) (2nd ed. in 2013); in 2006, she wrote the book: “Supply Chain Management”, edited by McGraw-Hill (in collaboration with P. Romano) (2nd ed. in 2010). Finally, she contributed to The Blackwell Encyclopedic Dictionary of Operations Management, (2nd and 3rd ed.), edited by Blackwell. Over the years, she has won important international Awards: in 2008, "the Conference Best Paper" at the 17th International IPSERA Conference; in 2010, the "Outstanding and Conference Best Paper" at the 5th 2010 IEEE International Conference on Management of Innovation and Technology (ICMIT); in 2012, the "Jose A.D. Machuca Best Paper Award” at the 4th Edition of the P&OM World Conference.
