After completing my scientific high school diploma, I studied at the University of Trento and the University of Padova, later conducting research periods in Spain (Universidad de Murcia) and the United Kingdom (University of East Anglia). I became Assistant Professor in 2018 and, since 2024, I have been Associate Professor of Experimental Psychology.

Over the years, I have received awards from the Italian Association of Psychology, including prizes for Best Poster Presentation (2010), Best Oral Presentation (2013), Best Doctoral Thesis (2014), and Best Scientific Article (2017). In 2017, I was awarded a grant to attend the European Conference on Visual Perception.

My research has been funded at local and national levels (PRIN 2022; PRIN PNRR 2022) as well as internationally (PeerJ 2022; Prolific 2024).

I serve as an editor for various journals in experimental psychology, including Cognitive Processing, Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, and PCI Registered Reports.

Since 2025, I have been a ‘Change Agent’ at the University of Padova, where I promote innovative teaching practices (https://www.unipd.it/t4l-change-agent).

Research Area

I am interested in visual perception and attention, and social cognition. In my research, I adopt a range of methods and approaches, including eye movements and cross-cultural comparisons.

I currently conduct research in the following areas:

• Visual perception and attention in social contexts
• Eye movements and cognition
• Spatial representation of non-numerical magnitudes (e.g., time, weight, speed)
• Aesthetic perception of natural landscapes

Thesis proposals

I offer both literature-based and experimental theses, with direct and continuous supervision throughout all stages.

To effectively carry out a literature-based thesis, it is helpful to have a good understanding of how to search for sources. This skill can also be developed through courses offered by the “Metelli” library (https://biblio.unipd.it/biblioteche/psicologia/laboratori-formazione).

Experimental theses may require advanced skills in programming (e.g., Python) and data analysis (e.g., R), which I do not expect students to already possess. I personally supervise all stages of the experimental work and prepare the necessary materials in advance, remaining available for any clarification. The main responsibility of the student is to take an active role in data collection.

Anyone undertaking a thesis, of any kind, becomes part of a dynamic research environment, with regular group meetings dedicated to in-depth discussion and the sharing of work.

For topic selection, you can refer to the “Research Areas” section.
